How to add a watermark to a PDF

Good to know

  • Large diagonal text at 15–25% opacity is the classic DRAFT look and keeps the page readable.
  • The original text stays selectable, so the watermark can be removed by someone with a PDF editor. Don't rely on it as security.
  • Password-protected PDFs can't be opened. Remove the password in your PDF app first.
